Emma named league's top player of the week after three impressive games.
FORT COLLINS – It was another week of dominant play for Colorado State forward Emma Ronsiek as the graduate senior was named the Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this year.
Â
In CSU's three games this past week, Ronsiek averaged a sensational 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting an impressive 48.7% from the floor, 40% from 3-point range and 90.0% from the free-throw line. In 36.1 minutes per game, the Sioux Falls, S.D., native only committed three total turnovers which gave her a 4.0 assist/turnover ratio.
Â
Ronsiek's top performance of the week came in Colorado State's 72-56 win over Georgia, the program's first victory over an SEC program since 1998. Against the Bulldogs, Ronsiek dropped 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals while shooting 9-for-13 (69.2%) from the floor and 4-for-5 (80%) from behind the arc. Ronsiek made four-straight threes and scored 12-consecutive points to close out the first quarter, helping the Rams build a commanding 18-4 lead early on.
Â
In the first game of the week, the forward notched 13 points, five rebounds and six assists in a dominant win over UTEP, helping CSU win its final home game of 2024. In the final nonconference game of the season against Stephen F. Austin, Ronsiek led the Rams with 18 points to go with three rebounds and three assists.
Â
This is the second MW Player of the Week award of the season for Ronsiek as the forward also won it after the first week of the season on Nov. 11. Ronsiek becomes the first player in the league to earn the honor multiple times this year, while Colorado State's three-total POTW awards make it the only school to have student-athletes named to the award more than once.
Â
With the nonconference schedule in the books, Colorado State opens MW play on the road at Utah State on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. The Rams get their first MW home game on the first day of the new year as San Diego State visits town on Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets to all Colorado State women's basketball home games at CSURams.com/WBBTickets.
