Rams Snap Road Skid with Rout at Utah State

Hofschild and Leimane combined for 55 points
LOGAN, Utah – Colorado State snapped its five-game road losing streak with a dominating, 90-68 victory at Utah State on Saturday afternoon. McKenna Hofschild led all scorers with 31 points and Marta Leimane added a career-high 24 points. The pair combined for 24-of-32 shooting.
Colorado State kept Utah State scoreless over six minutes in the opening frame and forced the Aggies to miss 10-consecutive shots, while going on a 15-0 run. The Rams built an 11-point lead through the first 10 minutes, led by Hofschild who scored 11.
Both teams traded baskets through the first media break at 4:14 in the second. The Rams strung together another 8-0 run to lead 46-35 with 72 seconds left in the half – their largest of the game thus far. Hofschild finished the first half with 20 points on 8-of-11 and Leimane added 14 on 7-of-9. As a team, CSU shot 19-of-31 in the first 20 minutes and 2-of-3 from behind the arch.
Colorado State continued its dominating performance coming out of the break outscoring Utah State 26-11. The Rams used two scoring runs of 10- and 9-0 during the third to built their largest lead at 29 with 3:24 left. CSU continue to roll in the fourth quarter and secured the victory.
Hofschild led all scorers with 31 points and pulled down five rebounds and five assists. Leimane added a career-high 24 points and grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists. Hannah Ronsiek also added four assists and secured a team-high eight rebounds. CSU finished shooting 59 percent from the floor on 36-of-61 shooting, including 9-of-13 from behind the arc. Hofschild was a perfect 5-of-5 from 3-point range.
Colorado State will return to Moby Arena and host Nevada for its annual Education Day on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM. The Rams will welcome kids from the Poudre and Thompson School Districts.
