Andrea Bergsdottir & Kara Kaneshiro earn Mountain West weekly honors
FORT COLLINS – A great team performance turned into a pair of individual honors for Colorado State women's golf. Andrea Bergsdottir and Kara Kaneshiro picked up Mountain West Player and Freshman of the Week honors.
Bergsdottir earned Player of the Week after winning her first career event at the Collegiate Invitational. She shot a 4-under 212 to win the tournament by two strokes. Bergsdottir was the only player in the field to finish under par in all three rounds. She scored an ace near the end of her second round.
As a team, Colorado State finished in fifth place. The field featured nine top 50 teams and 12 were inside the top 65.
Birgsdottir jumped 161 spots in the national rankings.
Kaneshiro tied for 16th at the Collegiate Invitational. She was one of only 18 players in the field to shoot a round below par. The 16th-place finish was her fourth top 20 of the season.
Colorado State returns to action February 25-26 at the Westbrook Invitational in Arizona.
