Hofschild Makes it Four in a Row

Guard named to All-Mountain West team
LAS VEGAS – McKenna Hofschild has done just about everything possible in her career, which now includes maxing out her time on the Mountain West All-Conference team.

The All-American is the fifth player in Mountain West history to be named a four-time All-Mountain West member (top 10 players) and second at Colorado State (Ellen Nystrom). CSU is also the only school to have two four-time All-Mountain West members in league history.

Sunday the conference announced the guard who leads the conference in scoring and assists was named to the 10-member team for the fourth consecutive season in voting conducted by the league's coaches. Hofschild is averaging 22.5 points and 7.28 assists, figures which rank her among national leaders. Saturday, the Mountain West announced she was named to the 25th Anniversary All-Mountain West team, just one of two players currently active.

With the fifth-seeded Rams set to face No. 4 Nevada in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament Monday in Las Vegas, Hofschild will take the floor as the school and conference's all-time leader in assists (763), ranking No. 2 in points scored (2,132) on both charts. This season, she became the first player in Mountain West history to put together a trio of consecutive years with more than 200 assists. With 211 this season, she is just 11 shy of matching her school record from the prior campaign.

In the national rankings, the 2022-23 AP honorable mention All-American sits second in total assists, third in assists per game, fourth in assist/turnover ratio and is seventh in both points and points scored per game.

In her first season at Colorado State, Hofschild was additionally named the Newcomer of the Year. Last year, she was the Mountain West Player of the Year.

The Rams will enter the fray of the tournament on Monday, facing the Wolf Pack at 3:30 p.m. MT, the second of four games on the day at the Thomas and Mack Center on the UNLV campus. The game can be seen on The Mountain West Network.
