Rams Earns Second Stright Top 3 Finish at Mountain West Championship

Andrea Bergsdottir records the 10th top-5 finish at the conference tournament

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Colorado State rebounded in the final round of the Mountain West Championship Thursday to earn their second straight top-3 finish at the tournament. The Rams shot a 4-under 284 to jump New Mexico and finish in third place. CSU shot a 2-over, 866 for the tournament, the program's second-best score at a Mountain West Tournament.

Andrea Berggsdottir led the charge picking up the 10th top-5 finish at a Mountain West Championship in program history with her 3-under 69. She had a bogey-free round through 16 holes and at 4-under before a small hiccup on the par 3 17th. She moved into a tie for fifth overall at 2-under for the tournament. Last season Bergsdottir also finished in the top 10, tying for sixth.

Also competing in her final Mountain West Championship like Bergsdottir, was Sofia Torres and Panchalika Arphamongkol. Torres shot a 1-under 71 in her final round to move into a tie for 18th in the tournament. Arphamongkol shot a even par 72 on the day to finish evan for the tournament and tie for ninth.

Freshman Kara Kaneshiro finished in the top 15 in her first Mountain West Championship. The Honolulu native had an up-and-down day that featured five birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey ending up at even par.

 Now the Rams await the NCAA Golf Selection Show on Wednesday, April 24 at noon on Golf Channel to see if they qualify for the NCAA Regionals for the first time as a team since 2010.
