Colorado State unable to close the first round of the Chattanooga Classic strong
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Colorado State women's golf left some strokes on the course to close out round one of the Chattanooga Classic on Sunday. CSU finished the round shooting a 12-over, 296 to be in seventh place on the crowded leaderboard. The Rams are six strokes back of leader East Tennessee State.
Colorado State was unable to finish the round strong combining to be +6 over the final three holes. Holes 16 and 18 did play within the top five hardest on Sunday.
Despite the disappointing finish, CSU started well including a strong middle part of their round that helped Andrea Bergsdottir and Panchalika Arphamongkol sit in the top 20 after round one.
Bergsdottir, fresh off a win at the Fresno State Classic, is tied for ninth, shooting a 1-over, 72. She followed up a double bogey on the par 3 13th with back-to-back birdies. Bergsdottir went on to close her round with three straight pars. The 72 has her tied for ninth.
Panchalika was even through nine and made it to 1-under before closing the day with a double bogey and bogey to shoot a 2-over, 73 and be tied for 16th.
Only eight players in the field shot par or better on Sunday.
