Andrea Bergsdottir and Kara Kaneshiro earn All-Mountain West honors
FORT COLLINS – Freshman Kara Kaneshiro earned the Mountain West's Freshman of the Year honor on Tuesday as announced by the conference. The Mountain West released its 2024 Women's Golf All-Conference team as voted on by the coaches.
Kaneshiro is the second Ram to earn the honor of joining Mayumi Motoyama in 2000. She also finds her name on the second team.
Andrea Bergsdottir earned first-team honors, the first CSU player to do so since Katrina Pendergast in 2018.
Bergsdottir won a pair of tournaments this year in the Collegiate Invitational and Fresno State Classic, matching the program record for medalist in a season. The grad student has not finished outside of the top 15 this year including five top-5 finishes. Bergsdottir's season stroke average of 71.00 is the best in program history as the team enters the NCAA Regionals next week.
Kaneshiro earned Freshman of the Year and second-team honors as she helped Colorado State win a program-best three team titles this season. The Honolulu native has a stroke average of 72.77 on the year including one top-five finish.
Bergsdottir, Kaneshiro and the rest of the Rams will compete in the Las Vegas Regional over May 6-8 at the Spanish Trail Country Club.
