Shot putter finishes 17th at NCAA Championship Meet

EUGENE, Ore. – Day one of the NCAA Championship boasted the end of a strong career for Mariano Kis.

Kis finished 17th in the men's shot put with a mark of 18.77 meters which he threw on his third throw of the competition. The mark is the fifth-year senior's second best mark this outdoor season, only beat out by Kis' qualifying mark in the NCAA West Regional two weeks ago.

By finishing 17th Kis will be named an All-American Honorable Mention, the first All-American recognition of his career.

Kis will end his career as a Ram with five Mountain West championships in the men's shot put across both indoor and outdoor seasons, leaving his legacy in the record book as a Ram ranked third all-time in indoor and outdoor shot put.

Colorado State will continue competition Thursday at the NCAA Championship meet with four more Rams set to compete in day one of competition for the women.
