Colorado State finishes first tournament of season at American Dunes Golf Club
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – he Colorado State women's golf team finished its first tournament of the season at the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club Wednesday afternoon as senior Lacey Uchida capped off the Rams' final round with a hole-in-one on the 12th hole.
Â
Uchida's hole-in-one marks the third consecutive year the feat has been accomplished by a Ram with Andrea Bergsdottir earning one in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
Â
"My coach told me to hit a 115 shot. I hit it a little left of my target, but there was some cut-spin on it. It hit the green and started rolling back to the pin," Uchida said. "We couldn't see it from the bottom, but then I saw my coach and her parents at the top. They started screaming that it went in the hole, so it was pretty awesome. I wish I saw it go in, but we're so far down, so we couldn't see it. It felt unbelievable. I can't believe that happened."
Â
As a team the Rams finished 13th shooting a score of 932 overall. Colorado State's opening round was its best team round, finishing day one with a 301 while freshman Jacinda Lee led the way individually.
Â
Lee went on to finish as the top Rams with an overall tournament score of 232 going +2 in the opening round for the Rams.
Â
Kara Kaneshiro followed close behind with an overall tournament score of 233, notching four birdies throughout the tournament.
Â
Pemika Arphamongkol and Uchida finished with a score of 235 and 239 respectively, while Chiara Sola made her Colorado State debut shooting a 241.
Â
As a team, the Rams totaled 21 holes hitting under par including Uchida's ace.
Â
The Folds of Honor Collegiate is set to remember September 11th and to never forget all the patriots of that day.
