Dennee Leads Ram Women to Dominant Display

Colorado state finishes 1-2-4-5-6 in women’s race

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State cross-country competed in its fourth race of the season on Friday at the UCCS XC Open. The women's side showed out, claiming four of the top five spots and five of the top ten.  

  • Senior Kenya Dennee finished first overall in her season debut, running a 21:43.4. The mark sits as the third best 6k by a Ram this season and a top 30 time in the Mountain West. Following Dennee was junior Mari Konold, who made her second start of the season and finished second place at 21:54.89.  
  • Davis Rydman shined on the men's side, finishing seventh overall and running a personal best 25:55.43. It was the third contest of the season for the freshman redshirt.  
  • New Jersey native Caroline Mehlhorn competed in her first race for the Rams, finishing fifth overall with a time of 22:05.13. One spot in front of her was teammate Brooklyn Ewert, who logged a personal best 22:02.57 and her highest ever cross-country finish. 
  • Two more redshirt freshmen made the trek in Nic Spencer and Brett Ephriam. Spencer finished 14th overall in the first 8k of his career (26:20.15) while Ephriam finished 16th overall, improving upon his personal best (26:30.65). 
  • Tabitha Woodhouse also logged a personal best as the London native finished sixth overall, running a 22:08.61. Following her was Hayley Trotter who finished just shy of a personal best and a top ten finish.  

Looking Ahead 

The Rams are back on the road next Saturday (Oct. 18th) for the Pre-National Invite in Columbia, MO. This will serve as the final test before the Mountain West championships that take place at the end of the month (Oct. 31st).
