Rams Earn Two Weekly Mountain West Awards

Debiec and Wilson earn first Mountain West weekly awards of their careers
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State setter Erin Debiec earns Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week, while junior middle blocker Eve Wilson is named Defensive Player of the Week for the Mountain West after the Rams went 2-0 on the week against Air Force and Wyoming. Â
Debeic led the Rams offensively, totaling 79 assists with 11.29 assists per set. As a team, the Rams hit at a .281 clip with Debiec running the offense compared to a .100 hitting percentage from their opponents. The redshirt freshman added seven kills on the week from the front row, hitting at a .538 clip on second-ball contacts. Debeic continued to show her range offensively and defensively, averaging 1.71 blocks per set with 12 block assists, while totaling 17 digs as a defender from the back row.Â
Wilson earns her first Mountain West weekly award of her career after leading the Rams to a 2-0 week, including a rivalry sweep against Wyoming. Contributed 25 total kills, good for 3.57 per set throughout the week. Her main contribution to points came from kills, but also averaged 3.00 blocks per set for 21 total, three of which were solo blocks and 18 block assists. Finished the week hitting at a .271 percentage while totaling 59 attempts out of the middle. Contributed the most points for the Rams, with 37 during the two matches, averaging 5.29 points per set. Wilson recorded her first career double-double against Air Force on Thursday with 15 kills and 12 blocks, while only being one block away from recording her second double-double of the week against Wyoming with 10 kills and nine total blocks in a three-set match.Â
The team will continue conference play at home against Fresno State on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. before hosting Nevada on Saturday at Moby Arena at 1:00 pm in its annual Ag Day match.
