Rams beat Lopes in four-sets in first ever conference meeting

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Colorado State volleyball team defeated the Grand Canyon Antelopes in the first conference matchup between the two teams.

Colorado State (3) –Grand Canyon (1) – (25-19, 15-25, 26-24, 25-22)
  •  The Rams started their first trip to Grand Canyon out with a first set win. With the Lopes joining the Mountain West in the 2025 pre-season and the Rams set to exit the Mountain West after the 2025 season, it made for a short-lived, yet important conference rivalry.
  • Set one featured nine tie scores and three lead changes until the Rams were able to break open a six-point lead thanks to a service run from setter Erin Debiec. Ahead now 21-16, the Rams were able to power through the red zone to secure sett one.
  • Middle blocker Kekua Richards totaled five of her 13 kills on the night in the first set, helping the Rams get off to a fast start.
  • Set two featured the Lopes response, tying the match at one all with a 25-15 set two victory, holding the Rams to just a .114 team hitting percentage in the set.
  • In the advantage set, the Rams came back from a 21-17 deficit with a Karsyn Fetzer service run at the helm. Back-to-back kills from Richards and freshman Halle Jameson, who led the Rams with 17 on the night, sparked thee run.
  • Fetzer then added an ace to force a GCU timeout, she would total four aces by the end of the match. The Rams were anything but iced with the timeout, returning to the court to score two more points to take a 23-22 advantage. The Lopes forced deuce points, tying the set at 24 all on Colorado State's firs set point, but the Rams rallied together a kill from Maria Brun, the Rams third double-digit kills scorer with 14, and a setter kill from Debiec to end the set 26-24 and go up two sets to one.
  • In the fourth set, Brun took charge as the closer scoring five kills at a .333 set clip to close ou the match for the Rams on a 25-22 fourth set win.
