Building momentum with heart and hustle

FORT COLLINS -- With confidence rising and competition calling, the Rams take their focus to the Northwest for a weekend of grit and growth.

Colorado State's women's swimming and diving team will travel to Pullman, Wash., to face Washington State on Friday at 5 p.m. in a swim-only meet before heading to Moscow, Idaho, on Saturday for an 11:30 a.m. swim and dive competition against Idaho. Diving between CSU and Idaho will be competed on Friday, with the scores mixed into Saturday's dual results.

This trip marks the Rams first opportunity of the season to compete in their technical suits, bringing an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to the weekend. For many on the roster, including Coach Christopher Woodard, this will also be their first visit to both Pullman and Moscow. Washington State carries a 2-0 dual-meet record into the weekend, highlighted by wins over Denver and Northen Arizona.

Despite a tough loss to Wyoming on Oct. 31, the Rams remain determined and motivated heading into the weekend. Woodard emphasized the team is sticking to its preparation and staying strong with fundamentals, including closing out races with strong finishes and maintaining consistent techniques under pressure.

"We took a gut punch Friday for sure," Woodard said. "But it does not deter anything. We are still going to keep preaching about the things we are supposed to focus on. We worked a great deal on having legs at the end of our races and breath control. We cannot get away from those two things if we are going to close out our races."

Discipline remains at the core for the Rams this season, both in and out of the pool. From maintaining technique under fatigue to executing race strategies with precision. This commitment to consistency and focus sets the foundation for strong performances in the pool. Woodard notes that success comes from trusting the process and committing to the fundamentals, ensuring that each athlete develops the endurance, mental toughness, and attention to detail necessary to perform at their best in every race.

"Our team knows that races are won in practice just as much as in the pool," Woodard said. "Trusting the process, focusing on the fundamentals, and staying consistent allows every athlete to perform at their best when it counts."

Colorado State approaches the weekend, treating the duals as a benchmark for the team's preparation and execution. The outcomes will highlight the Rams' growth, resilience, and ability to perform at an elevated level under pressure.
