Rams Close Out Fall Season at SDSU Fall Classic

Colorado State competes in the final matches of their fall season
SAN DIEGO, Calif.— The Colorado State women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season on Sunday, closing out competition at the SDSU Fall Classic. The Rams demonstrated growth from the beginning of their fall season to its finish. Their final tournament was highlighted by key singles and doubles wins as they head into the break leading to dual season.
In singles play, freshman Stella Morgan-Simpson defeated Saint Mary's Sophie Stanton in a quick two sets 6-1, 6-1. Hanna Haber also found success in singles over Gabriela Mejia Arenas (NCC) in a closer 7-5,6-2 match.
Diana Lizarao battled through a tight three-set match against Missouri's Mary Brumfield, falling 6-1, 2-6, 10-7. Sorcha Caves rounded out singles action against Saint Mary's Sofia Daryaie, falling 6-2, 6-4.
As for doubles, Haber and Annika Planinsek defeated Stanford's Emma Sun and Morgan Schaffer in a close 7-5 match.
The tournament marked the final competition of the fall schedule for Colorado State, which spent the semester developing new pairings and welcoming new collegiate athletes.
Coach Mai-Ly Tran expressed pride in her team's progress this fall, noting the valuable experience gained through each tournament.
"The fall season is all about growth and preparation for spring, and we accomplished that," Tran said. "We learned what we need to keep improving on, and we're definitely a stronger team than we were in September."
With the fall season complete, the Rams will turn their attention to preparing for dual-match play in the spring, which will begin in January.
