Guard averaged near double-double across two-game stretch
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State's Lexus Bargesser has been named the Old Trapper Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week after career performances against Utah and Southern Utah.
Â
Bargesser averaged 21.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game across the pair of contests, doing so while shooting an impressive 52.0% (13-25) from the field and 93.8% (15-16) from the free throw line.
Â
The Grass Lake, Mich., native was unstoppable in the Rams' win over Southern Utah on Sunday, recording a career-high 23 points that included a 10-for-11 performance from the charity stripe. Bargesser also dished out a season-high five assists and corralled nine rebounds, propelling CSU to a dominant 70-47 victory over the Thunderbirds.
Â
In Thursday's White Out against Utah, Bargesser turned in one of her top performances of the season as she recorded the first double-double of her career with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Ram guard also notched three steals on the day, capping a well-rounded performance that helped Colorado State stay competitive throughout the game.
Â
Bargesser has been one of the top mid-major players throughout the course of the season as she is one of only three guards nationally to average at least 16.5 points per game while shooting 55.0%-or-better from the field. On top of that, she is one of just 16 NCAA DI players – and the lone in the MW –  to average 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, a testament to her well-rounded game.
Â
Colorado State is on the road this week for a matchup against San Francisco on Saturday (Dec. 13) at 3 p.m. MT. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and will have radio broadcast coverage available on the Varsity Network and 102.9 FM.
