Rams Drop Weekend Set in California

SAN JOSE, Calif. – For now, knowing its isn't going down without a fight is what is bolstering the squad.

In the end, Colorado State's women's tennis team came back with a pair of Mountain West losses on its swing through California, falling to San Jose State 4-0 on Sunday. The Rams are now 1-3 in conference play, 3-12 overall.

Colorado State continued it's trend of playing strong doubles but couldn't secure the point. The top tandem of Sarah Weekley and Victoria Erechtchenko posted a 6-4 win, but the No. 2 line of Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya and Diana Lizarazo was edged in a tiebreak, 7-6 (3).

With a singles forfeit on the board, the Spartans closed out the victory with a pair of wins at singles, including one at the No. 1 spot from Cheuk Ying Shek, ranked 118th nationally, which clinched the team result. The Rams did take a couple of opening sets with Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya and Logan Voeks posting them at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

The Rams return home for a pair this weekend, hosting UNLV on Friday and No. 44 San Diego State on Sunday. Â
