Colorado State shows fight in first conference match
LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Colorado State volleyball team fell to Wyoming Thursday night in a five-set thriller to kick off conference play.
Colorado State (2) – Wyoming (3) – (20-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 13-15)
Up Next: As Colorado State returns from across the Border, the Rams will return to Moby Arena for their first home conference game with a matchup against Nevada in CSU's annual State Pride game. Saturday will also serve as Alumni Weekend in celebration of the program's 50th Year.
Colorado State (2) – Wyoming (3) – (20-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 13-15)
- The Rams fell behind in their first conference match of the year, dropping the first two sets to Wyoming on the Cowgirls home court, while also keeping momentum high, allowing the Rams to take the match to five sets.
- Colorado State extended the match in the third set with a 25-18 victory, with 16 of its 71 kills coming in the turning point set alone.Â
- The Rams offense came alive throughout both the third and fourth sets, with Halle Jameson, Maria Brun and Eve Wilson finishing the match with 16 kills apiece.
- Brenna Rowland ended the night with 10 kills, four blocks and 12 points, hitting at a .429 clip.
- After taking both the third and fourth set, the tone shifted once again with a back-and-forth fifth set to leave the Rams hanging.Â
- Brenna Rowland and Maria Brun lead the Rams with four block each, ensuring crucial defense to keep the momentum throughout the back-and-forth matchup.
- The Colorado State defense totaled 69 digs on the night with libero Aine Doty leading the way with 19.Â
