Jorgensen returns in loss
BOISE, Idaho – Colorado State men's basketball once again dug itself out of an early hole, but a late 11-0 run was too much for the Rams as they fell to Boise State Friday night 79-73.
How It Happened
Boise State led from the jump, but the game stayed within two possessions through the first 10 minutes as the teams felt each other out. The Bronco went on a 13-3 run over a four-minute span to go up by double figures.
During that run, CSU committed three turnovers and shot 1-for-3 from the field. BSU entered the half with a nine-point lead.
Colorado State came to life in the second half as the 3s started to fall and a move to a zone defense helped the Rams. CSU went from down 12 to up one on a 16-3 run with four different players connecting behind the arc.
The Broncos responded with a 10-0 run of its own forcing CSU to go 0-for-3 from the field and turning the ball over once. That margin was enough to keep the Ram an arm's length away the rest of the way.
Game Notes
- Kyle Jorgensen returned to the court after suffering an injury early in the game at Utah State on December 20. He finished the night making one three-pointer for his lone points, grabbing a rebound and an assist in 16 minutes.
- Rashaan Mbemba had a strong night inside with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including a career-high two 3s. He had five rebounds.
- Brandon Rechsteiner added in another 17 points, making five 3s while grabbing a career-high-tying five rebounds.
- Jevin Muniz scored 14 points with eight rebounds and four assists off the bench.
- Jase Butler made his first career start.
- For the first time in Mountain West play, CSU made 10 or more 3s, connecting on 14. Eight of those 14 came in the second half.
