Track and Field Sets Up for Double Weekend

Colorado State brings full strength roster for the first time this season
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State track and field double the action this weekend with two meets taking place. On Friday and Saturday, the Rams will take on the Colorado Invite down in Boulder while a squad of jumpers heads to Colorado Springs for the UCCS Invite.Â

- On Friday, the throws, pole vault and multi athletes will make the start, accompanied by Mountain West Men's Freshman of the Week Taylor Waters. The pole vaulter ranks as a top-five freshman in the nation and second among the conference at 5.25-meters/17-feet-2.75. He currently ranks just shy of the school record in the event with a chance to make history on Friday. Â
- Runners take the stage on Saturday after a stellar performance last week at the CU Potts Invite. Among them is Grace Lanfear, who set two personal bests last week, (60-meter hurdles 8.65/400-meter 55.80) both marks moving her into Colorado State's record book. Another underclassman making waves is freshman Owen Langdon, who had a personal best of 7.82 in the 60m hurdles to win the event last week. Langdon ranks top five in program history while sitting with the best time in the MW. The Texas native also is top 40 nationally and fifth among freshmen.Â
- Jumpers will take flighton Saturday, with Ismael Dembele making his triple jump seasonn debut. Dembele ranks seventh in program history in both the indoor long and triple jump; he is coming off a season in which he won gold in both events at the MW outdoor championships, and gold in the triple at indoor. Â
- Joining Dembele is another high-flyer in Ndayiragije Shukurani who has started the season as one of the best athletes in the nation. Shukurani broke the school record in the high jump last week at the CU Potts Invite at 2.18/7-1.75 and has the triple jump record in his sights. The sophomore comes in at second in program history just six inches shy of Allam Bushara's 52-8.75 set in 2022. Shukurani was named MW Men's Field Athlete of the Week last week and is top ten nationally in both events. Â
- Several throwers also sit in the national ranks, including Kajsa Borrman at 14th in the weight throw (21.12/69-3.5). Makayla Long ranks 19th in the shot put at 16.23/53-3. On the men's side, Kyle Bigley is ranked 26th nationally in the weight throw at 21.01/68-11.55 and top 50 in the shot put. The men have four athletes in the top 100 for the weigh throw in Bigley, Adam Hellbom, Cameron Kalaf and Leonardo Ramos.Â
