Rams Gain Valuable Platform Experience

Dodd leads CSU contingent on the tower
AIR FORCE ACADEMY  – The final day was for the experience.
Â
The Air Force Diving Invitational closed Saturday with the platform competition, and the tower isn't a very familiar or often-visited location. Colorado State diving coach Seth O'Dea has been trying to get his team on a tower at least once a month, so the Rams have been able to practice or compete on platform less than 10 times this season.
Â
Even still, he saw improvement across the board from his squad, led by freshman Juliana Dodd and her score of 176.90.
Â
"That was really it, day three shaped up to be a valuable learning experience for everyone. The big takeaway was to be proud of what we did well and to learn from what we could have done better," O'Dea said. "For the limited amount of experience we've had, everyone did a good job. With us not having enough practice, this was just more important that we got the reps in than necessarily focus on the results of the competition."
Â
Riley Lee hit a 174.85 for the Rams, while senior Maggie Di Scipio competed on platform for the first time this season and reached 166.45. Freshmen Jackie Oh (165.25) and Sydney Ovesen (141.35) closed out the scoring for CSU.
Â
O'Dea will take all five of his divers to the DU First Chance meet on Friday and Saturday to compete one more time before the Mountain West Championships take place in Houston from Feb. 18-22.
