Rams host Bulldogs in conference debut
FORT COLLINS – The 16-game schedule for the inaugural Pac-12 run for Colorado State's women's basketball team was released by the conference on Friday, with the Rams drawing a host assignment for their debut.
Coming off a conference tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, Ryun Williams' crew drew Fresno State for the Pac-12 opener at Moby Arena on Jan. 7. The schedule has the Rams playing each team in a home-and-home format.
On Jan. 16, San Diego State, which won the Mountain West regular-season title, comes to Fort Collins. Gonzaga, which won both titles in the West Coast Conference last season, visits Moby Arena on Feb. 3
The league announced 20 games during the women's basketball season were picked up by national broadcast partners (CBS, USA Sports and The CW); those games will be announced at a later date.
The Rams will play back-to-back road games three times in the course of the conference slate, hosting consecutive games twice – both in the second half of the season. Washington State (Feb. 14) and Utah State (Feb. 17) will be the first run, with the Rams closing out conference play at home with Boise State (March 3) and Oregon State (March 6).
Williams' roster includes one returning starter from last year's NCAA team, Kloe Froebe, who averaged 10.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Key bench performer McKenna Murphy is back to help bolster a squad restocked with five transfers and a trio of freshmen. Colorado State posted a 27-8 record, winning 20 games or more for a fifth consecutive season.
Season tickets are currently on sale. The Rams open the season with a doubleheader on Nov. 2, facing Lindenwood prior to the men playing Montana State.
