Colorado State unable to overcome turnovers and cold shooting
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – First half turnovers and a cold offensive second half turned out to be too much for Colorado State to overcome in its final tune-up for the 2026-27 season. The Rams fell to San Diego on Sunday afternoon, 73-58.
How It Happened
Turnovers were the story of the first half for Colorado State, who turned the ball over 12 times, leading to 13 San Diego points. That allowed the Toreros to lead the Rams 33-28 at the break despite CSU outshooting USD 40.9% to 33.3%.
Carey Booth led the Rams in the first half, scoring 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Jase Butler was the only other CSU player to score more than one basket with seven points.
While Colorado State was able to lower its turnover in the second half, the offense turned cold, unable to buy a basket. CSU shot 34.6% in the second half, allowing the host Toreros to pull away.
Game Notes
- Booth was the lone Ram to finish in double figures scoring with his 19 points alongside six rebounds and an assist.
- Jace Butler and Josh Pascarelli finished the game with a team-leading seven rebounds a piece. They were also CSU's second and third leading scorers with nine (Pascarelli) and seven (Butler) points, each.
- Colorado State ended the game with 20 turnovers, leading to 20 points for USD.
