Hejny, Moore tabbed by conference
FORT COLLINS  – The spoils of victory continued Monday as the Pac-12 announced Colorado State quarterback Hauss Hejny and safety Tre'Shawn Moore were named the offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively. It is the second time this season Rams have been named for the honors in the same week, the first time being after the season opener.
Â
Hejny accounted for five touchdowns in the 56-49 victory over San Diego State this past Saturday. He hit on 24-of-31 passes for a career-best 333 yards with three touchdowns, adding 85 yards and two more scores on the ground. He became the 10th player in FBS this season to throw for three touchdowns and rush for two, the first to do so in the Pac-12. He's just the second Colorado State player to ever do so, joining Hall of Famer Bradlee Van Pelt who did it twice, once in 2002 – also against San Diego State -- and again in 2003.
Â
Moore made a pivotal play in the game when he intercepted a pass late in the first half and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown, proving a two-score margin for Colorado State at the time. It was the first defensive score for the team this season, and the first pick-six for the program since 2022 when Ayden Hector did it against Nevada. Moore added six tackles in the game, two of them solo.
Â
The honor was the second this season for Hejny, the first for Moore. Oumar Diomande earned the defensive distinction Week 1 for Colorado State.
Â
The Rams (3-4, 1-2 Pac-12) hit the road Saturday for a matchup in Logan, Utah, against Utah State (1:30 p.m.)
