Colorado State marks off a successful in-state roadtrip
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY — Colorado State (14-10, 5-8 Mountain West) secured a decisive 91-74 victory over Air Force (3-21, 0-13 Mountain West) on Tuesday night at Clune Arena. The Rams hit 14 3-pointers and forced 13 turnovers to maintain control throughout the game, scoring their highest road total of the season at 91.Â
How it happened
Opening with an early Air Force lead as the Falcons came out on their home court with energy, CSU quickly countered with Carey Booth hitting two 3-pointers in quick succession, leveling the score at six by the 17:18 mark. Â
As the half progressed, close margins took Colorado State into the under-eight media timeout tied at 25. The Rams capitalized on Air Force turnovers to go on a 20-9 run to close out the half, with Brandon Rechsteiner contributing crucial points, including a jumper at the buzzer to extend their lead to 47-39. CSU recorded 17 assists, as they showcased a strong perimeter game, making 9-of-16 attempts from beyond the arc, while Air Force totaled eight turnovers in the half alone.
CSU secured the victory with a strong second-half performance, outscoring the Falcons 44-35. Rechsteiner played a key role, contributing with both a jumper at 16:58 and an assist to Josh Pascarelli for a layup at 16:05. Rechsteiner let the team with 14 points while also recording four assists. Booth fortified the Rams' lead with a fastbreak dunk at 7:12, clinching an 18-point lead and putting the game out of reach for Air Force en route to a 91-74 win.Â
