Women’s tennis hosts first outdoor match of the season
FORT COLLINS – Momentum shifts quickly in tennis. For a team, it can turn during a season, a match, a set, or even a single point. Some changes are earned, some are unexpected, and this weekend, the Rams will face one that tests every skill they've honed so far.
Â
The Colorado State women's tennis team will host North Florida on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 12:30 p.m. The match will take place at the CSU Tennis courts marking the Rams' first outdoor match of the spring season. The match will be live streamed with live scoring.
Â
North Florida is ranked No.72 nationally with an undefeated 10-0 record. This match represents for the Rams their first nationally ranked opponent of the season, though the Rams have previously faced nationally ranked players in individual competition.
Â
Colorado State enters the weekend with a 3-5 overall record and looks to rebound after three consecutive dual-match losses. The Rams have shined at No.3 singles, where they hold a 4-3 record. Leyla Tozin leads the squad with a 4-2 singles ledger in dual play, while Luana Avelar is 3-1 at the top of the lineup. In doubles, the team's best record is at No.2, led by Tozin with a 4-2 mark with Hanna Haber close behind standing with a 3-1 record.
