CSU, six others join the Pac-12

FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – Six hundred and fifty-seven days in the making, the time has finally arrived. Colorado State is officially a member of the Pac-12.

The Rams, alongside Boise State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State, and Utah State, join current members Oregon State and Washington State to launch the conference.

"Today is a historic day for Colorado State, not just in athletics, but the whole university," Director of Athletics John Weber said. "I want to thank Commissioner Teresa Gould and her team for their vision and leadership in creating the new Pac-12. We look forward to this journey in joining like-minded universities and athletic departments. These are exciting times ahead for CSU athletics, our great university, the Fort Collins community and state of Colorado."

Colorado State announced its intention to become part of the rebuilt Pac-12 on Sept. 12, 2024. Since then, CSU is one of just two FBS programs in the nation to have played in a bowl game and won a conference title in volleyball and men's and women's basketball. Over that time, the Rams also won 146 games in those four sports, tied for the 18th most in the nation.

CSU athletics has seen success across all competition in the past few years, including Mya Lesnar earning two national championships, one each in indoor and outdoor shot put, with 11 Rams overall being named All-American and a combined 37 individual and team conference titles won.

Ram Country has shown its impact as well with a historic Day of Giving this past May bringing in $1.6 million, the most ever for the department on the Day of Giving. This impact is felt well beyond just one day as the McGraw Society has reached over 150 members, making a transformational impact on the future of Colorado State athletics.

The influence of Ram Country is felt beyond dollars raised and Ram Club members, but through building the best home field advantage, showing up and being loud cheering on the Rams. Just last season, football had its largest home single-game attendance in program history for Homecoming and Friends and Family weekend against Hawaii, while setting the largest student attendance record in Canvas Stadium history against Northern Colorado. Meanwhile, volleyball finished eighth in the nation for attendance in 2025.

The Pac-12 era officially starts in mid-August when Colorado State soccer kicks off its season. The department's first Pac-12 contests will come on September 24, when volleyball hosts San Diego State. Football's first game of the season is against rival Wyoming on September 5 at 4 p.m., and the Pac-12 opener comes October 3 against Oregon State as a part of Homecoming and Friends and Family Weekend.

Colorado State fans can support the Rams and celebrate the historic moment by joining the Ram Club, buying season tickets or taking part in the 12 Days of Deals.
