Colorado State Dominates Coyotes at Home

FORT COLLINS — Colorado State volleyball defeated South Dakota 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-19) on Thursday. The Rams hit .302 with 38 kills and eight aces while holding USD to a .073 team hitting percentage.

CSU created separation in the first set with a 6-0 run that turned a 12-11 edge into an 18-11 lead. During that stretch, Maria Brun served an ace, and the Coyotes committed three attack errors, including one on a block by Sofia Zabjek and Kekua Richards. The Rams finished the set 25-17, with Eve Wilson putting down the final kill from Jaedyn Riley, one of the couple Rams who saw playing time outside of the starting lineup due to CSU's dominance.

CSU used Halle Jameson's serve to score four straight points late in the second set, turning an already dominant 20-12 score into 24-12 with Brun's kill and three USD attack errors. Earlier, Karsyn Fetzer added a service ace during a run that moved the Rams from 14-8 to 17-8. After the Coyotes scored twice, Riley finished the set with a kill from Fetzer for a 25-14 CSU win.

The Rams steadied the third set after USD tied it at 13, with Jameson and Wilson kills helping the home side move back in front, 16-14. Brun added consecutive service aces to stretch CSU's advantage from 20-17 to 22-17. Silvie Graetzer and Jameson delivered the final two Rams kills as the set ended 25-19.
