Action at Bedford Cup Takes off with Thrilling Day 1

Competitive matches set the stage for an exciting weekend
Day one of Bedford Cup proved fruitful for Colorado State's tennis team. Â
The Rams went 5-4 in the four main draws in singles play Friday, with junior Diana Lizarazo making it to the semifinals in the Bravo bracket. Senior Sorcha Caves and sophomore Leyla Tozin both lost in the second round in the Alpha bracket, along with senior Logan Voeks in the Delta bracket. They will look to bounce back as they have consolation play Saturday. Sophomore Dylan Vokes lost in the first round of the Charlie draw but gained a win in the first round of consolation play. She will look to continue her momentum as well. Â
Doubles was a different story. Â
The Rams had four doubles pairs and went 3-1 in the first round. Duo Sorcha Caves and Annika Planinsek are ranked as the No. 4 pair in this tournament as they look to build from their tournament win last weekend at home. Â
Saturday's action will start at 9 a.m., with doubles, then will be followed up by singles play. Â
