GAME

  • Colorado State is now 50-44-1 all-time in its Homecoming games.
  • CSU has won nine consecutive contests against New Mexico -- its longest active streak against any active program.
    • The Rams also are 4-0 in Homecoming games against the Lobos.
  • Today’s attendance of 36,514 marks the first sellout of the season and third sellout in two seasons (10 games) of play in Canvas Stadium. The crowd was also the fifth-largest attendance in school history
  • Today's win was CSU's first by way of a game-winning field goal as time expired since Jared Roberts nailed a 46-yarder against Utah State on Homecoming 2014 (Oct. 18) for a 16-13 win. The most recent instance prior to that was Roberts’ 41-yard game-winner as time expired in the 2013 Gildan New Mexico Bowl (Dec. 21), a 48-45 win.
  • The last time CSU won a game on a walk-off field goal attempted when trailing came Sept. 25, 2010. Ben DeLine drilled a 35-yard field goal to erase a 34-33 Idaho lead on Ag Day at Hughes Stadium, and secure a 36-34 win for the Rams.
  • This was the Rams' first win when scoring 20 or fewer points since that same contest against Utah State.
  • The Rams took a 7-0 lead just 1:10 into the game on a five-yard TD pass from K.J. Carta-Samuels to Preston Williams.
    • The score came after Caleb Smith forced New Mexico’s Tyrone Owens to fumble and the ball was recovered by Tre Thomas at the New Mexico 12-yard line.
    • The TD drive was 2 plays for 12 yards -- the shortest TD drive of the year for the Rams.
    • CSU has scored TDs on its first possession of the game in two consecutive contests, and both TDs came via 5-yard pass from Carta-Samuels to Williams.
  • CSU’s second touchdown came on a 16-play, 96-yard drive (7:31 in length), culminating in a 1-yard TD run by Carta-Samuels with 4:24 to go in the second quarter.
    • The 16 plays were the most since a 17-play scoring drive at Boise State (Oct. 15, 2016).
    • 7:31 is the longest scoring drive since the Rams had a drive 8:22 in length vs. Fresno State on Nov. 5, 2016.
    • It was the Rams' third scoring drive of the season of 96+ yards and the sixth over the past four years under head coach Mike Bobo.
  • The Rams recorded 3 sacks and 8 tackles for loss.
    • CSU has tallied 9 sacks and 17 tackles for loss over the last two games, including a season-high 6 sacks last week at San Jose State.
  • New Mexico entered the game ranked 17th in the FBS and second in the MW averaging 42.2 points per game. The 18 points is the second-fewest that the Lobos have scored this season (14 at Wisconsin on Sept. 8).
  • The Rams' defense opened the game holding New Mexico to a fumble, two punts and a turnover on downs, as CSU built a 14-0 lead.
  • The defense also did not allow a third-down conversion in the second half (0-4), and held New Mexico to 16 yards in the fourth quarter.
  • CSU is now 8-2 all-time under head coach Mike Bobo when holding an opponent under 20 points.
  • CSU won the time-of-possession battle 36:37-23:23.
  • The Rams are now 2-1 in league play and will enter the contest at Boise State (Friday, Oct. 19; 7 p.m. MT) at least tied for second place in the Mountain Division.
