Adam Pilapil
Adam Pilapil was hired as the linebackers coach in December of 2022 as part of Jay Norvell’s inaugural coaching staff.

Inheriting a blend of young and experienced talent, he saw all four of his backers finish among the top 13 in tackles for the team. Dequan Jackson earned second-team All-Mountain West honors after recording 100 tackles, including 6.0 for loss, while Cam’Ron Carter ranked third on the team with 76 stops.

Pilapil is familiar with the Mountain West and the Border War rivalry with Wyoming having played linebacker four seasons for the Cowboys.

As a senior, he was part of a group that ranked 19th nationally in total defense and 25th in rush defense. He was named Academic All-Mountain West all four seasons, finishing with 69 career tackles.

He started his coaching path as a graduate assistant at his alma mater in the 2019 season, then moved to Kansas State as a graduate assistant under his position coach, Steve Stanard, who was a former defensive coordinator at Colorado State.

Pilapil spent the 2021 season as an assistant defensive line coach at Montana State, working with defensive coordinator Freddie Banks. The Bobcats reached the FCS National Championship game in 2021.
