Alec lettered in football and track while attending Poudre High School in Fort Collins, Colo. He was named the track team MVP and garnered all-league honors from 2007-09. He captained both the track and football teams.

He was born Oct. 10, 1990, to Richard and Calla Pott in Fort Collins, Colo. He has a younger brother, Jarratt and a younger sister, Rachel. He is majoring in mechanical engineering.
