    Volunteer Coach

Chase Hood enters his first year as a volunteer coach for the Colorado State track and field team during the 2022-2023 season. Hood’s focus will be with pole vaulters and jumpers.  

Prior to Colorado State, Hood competed at Baylor University from 2013-2017. Here he competed in the pole vault before transitioning to the decathlon and heptathlon. Hood excelled in these events earning All-Conference honors in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Hood still holds the fourth best mark in Baylor’s history in the heptathlon and third in the decathlon. Hood graduated from Baylor with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.   

After his collegiate career, Hood spent two seasons as a volunteer coach with Baylor, where he concentrated his efforts on the multis and jumps teams. His Baylor tenure saw much success as he helped coach several athletes, including Olympian KC Lightfoot, to national championships and national records in the pole vault. He also helped several other athletes reach prestigious First-Team All-American and All-Conference honors.
