    Assistant Coach - Interim Multi and Jumps
Shane Ryan enters his first season as an interim assistant coach for multi and jumps on the Colorado State track & field coaching staff. Ryan’s time with the program started at the end of Fall Semester in a volunteer capacity, before receiving the promotion shortly into the 2019-20 campaign.
 
Last season, Ryan had a hand in the program’s four Mountain West Championships; Men’s and Women’s Indoor and Outdoor team titles. He aided coaching and mentoring horizontal and vertical jumpers, and multi-event athletes. Additionally, Ryan traveled and helped in logistics for away meets.
 
Aside from the team results in 2018-19, Ryan alongside former head assistant coach Ryan Baily guided an assortment of individual successes. At the Mountain West Indoor Championships, the Rams notched three podium finishes and one event champion in the men’s heptathlon, Hunter Powell. In the outdoor conference championship, CSU put up five podium finishes and one event champion for the men’s decathlon, and a NCAA qualifier in the decathlon as Powell accounted for both latter.
 
While at Colorado State, Ryan has also worked as a graduate assistant in the Integrative Biology Laboratory, starting in August of 2017 and going until his graduation in May of 2019. While with the lab, he filled the role of research coordinator for numerous studies. In addition to spending time in the lab and classroom, Ryan spent time teaching as a graduate teaching assistant. The courses he instructed include Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics of Human Movement, Techniques of Teaching Weight Lifting, and Capstone Labs/Lectures.
 
Prior to joining Colorado State track & field and the town of Fort Collins, Ryan worked with the University of California, Davis Athletic Department in an administrative intern position. Ryan, an Aggie himself, competed on the UC Davis track and field program throughout undergraduate, competing in jumps and multi events. He served as a captain in his final two seasons as well as the representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. He garnered the 2015 Coaches’ Award for leadership, devotion, and portrayal of the team’s honor code.
 
Ryan holds training in Good Clinical Practice and CPR. At UC Davis, Ryan graduated with a double major with distinction with a bachelor's of arts in Economics and bachelor’s of science in Exercise Biology (’17). In May of 2019, he added a master of science in Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State.
