North Bend High School
Spenser won two Oregon state championships in cross country and lettered four times in cross country and track, and three times in swimming, while attending North Bend High School in North Bend, Ore. He was named first-team all-league and all-state in both cross country and track. He won the North Bend Division 4A championships in cross country (three times) and track (four times). He holds the school records in 5,000-meters and 3,000-meters.

Spenser was born Oct. 1, 1989, to Bill and Tamara Lynass in Burke, S.D. He has an older sister, Kassy, and a younger brother, Sam. Majoring in health and exercise science.
