Ron Day was a Fort Collins native who made national attention as one of the finest wrestlers in the NCAA during his career. Day won all-conference honors and the 1955 and 1956 Skyline Conference championships in his 137-pound weight class. Day finished fourth in the nation in the 1955 NCAA wrestling tournament at 130. and at the 1956 NCAA championships, Day helped Colorado A&M finish seventh in the nation while he placed second at 137.Â
