Kirchem, Zhurin Advance at ITA Regionals

Salt Lake City, Utah ? Freshman Emily Kirchem and junior Dasha Zhurin both advanced to the second round of the ITA Regionals Thursday afternoon.

Kirchem defeated Morgan Sall from Colorado 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 and Zhurin knocked off Megan Ferriera from Arkansas 6-1, 6-3. Kirchem will face Emily Haylock from Kansas at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Zhurin will take on Kansas State?s Haley McIver at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.

The Rams went 1-1 in doubles matches. The duo of Jessica Jones and Jasmin Singh defeated Brigham Young?s Hadley McFarlane and Nicole Schneider by a score of 8-5. Zhurin and Kirchem paired up in doubles play and fell to Brigham Young?s Lauren Jones and Rebecca Pike 8-5.

Colorado State continues play at the ITA Regionals beginning on Friday at 8:30 a.m.
