Laird Falls In Playoff, Finishes Second At MWC

Sunriver, Ore. - Colorado State junior Martin Laird came up just short in defense of the Mountain West Conference individual title Saturday afternoon.
Laird shot a final round of 74 which put him in a tie with Michael Letzig of New Mexico. Letzig defeated Laird on the first playoff hole.
The team slipped from fourth to a sixth place finish on the final day. The Rams finished the tournament at 297, 8-over-par.
Nolan Martin finished the tournament in a tie for 18th after posting a round of 76. Geoff Nuwash fired a 73 on the final day to finish in a tie for 20th. Tommy Sharp shot a 2-over-par 74 to finish in a tie for 30th. Brett Tobyne rounded out the Ram lineup with a final round score of 77 placing him in a tie for 33rd.
Colorado State will now wait to receive word of an NCAA Championship invitation.
