Tennis Team Has Strong Showing At BYU Invitational

Provo, Utah ? The Colorado State women?s tennis team competed in the BYU Invitational on Thursday and Friday in Provo, Utah.

The Rams? Tatyana Ugorich won both of her matches in the No. 6 flight and will play for that division title Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Ugorich defeated Rachel Adler from Utah and Zsofia Fodor from Weber State.

Sophomore transfer Jasmin Singh won two matches in the No. 7 flight and will compete at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning for the title. Singh defeated Holly Anderson from Utah State in her first match and then knocked off Kate Ennengia from Weber State.

Freshman Emily Kirchem played well in the No.1 flight winning her first round match against Orsolya Sallai from Weber State. Kirchem then fell to Barbara Zahrova from Brigham Young. Kirchem will play for third place in the No. 1 flight Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Another freshman, Charity Malone, mirrored Kirchem?s performance. Malone defeated Cinthia Saucedo from Utah in her first match and then fell to Brigham Young?s Hadley MacFarlane in her second. Malone will play for third place in the No. 3 flight Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Sophomore?s Jessica Jones and Carla Pallares each defeated opponents from Utah in their first round matches and then fell to players from Brigham Young in the second round. Both Jones and Pallares will be playing for third place in the No. 4 and No. 5 flights, respectively.

Alexandra Paganetti struggled in the No. 2 flight, falling in both of her matches.

The invitational is played in a non-team scoring format.
