Colorado State?s men?s and women?s track and field teams had a strong start to the season with both teams winning the two-day Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs. The men?s team defeated the 13-team field with a score of 135.5. The women won with a score of 127.
On the men?s side, senior John Woods was the first collegiate athlete in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.7 seconds. Woods won the 200-meter dash in 21.36 seconds. Senior Dylan Olchin won the 5000-meter run with junior Josh Glabb finishing in second. Mike Horton and Justin Hazzard finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 60-meter hurdles. Freshman Magnus Lohse finished third in the shot put with a throw of 58-6.
On the women?s side, senior Colleen Blair won the 5000-meter run by 44 seconds with a time of 18:41.02. Freshman Janay DeLoach had a strong meet finishing third in the long jump and second in the 60-meter dash. Junior Katrice Thomas finished second in both the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. Jill McCormick and Keela Niemeyer finished third and fourth respectively in the shot put.
The Ram?s will travel to Wyoming for the Robert Shine Invitational for their next meet on January 31.
