Track & Field Teams Run To Victory In Wyoming

Both the Colorado State men?s and women?s track and field teams were victorious at the 2004 Robert Shine Invitational in Laramie, Wyoming. The men?s team scored 112 points to defeat Air Force (85) and Wyoming (58) while the women tallied 121 to defeat rivals Wyoming (101) and Air Force (67).

Freshman Magnus Lohse had the only NCAA provisional qualifying mark of the day, winning the shot put with a personal best throw of 63-2. Junior Jacob Benson won both the high jump (6-4.75) and the long jump (23-9.5) and finished second in the triple jump (47-5.25), earning the Ram?s 19 points. Sophomore Matt Cianciulli won the mile in 4:31.06, while senior John Woods won the 55 meters in 6.42 seconds and Brandon Kent was victorious in the 400 at 49.89. The Ram?s won every running event of the day in men?s competition except the 55 hurdles, also winning the 800 meters (senior Brian Kelly), the 200 meters (freshman Rodnee Pope) and the 3000 meters (senior Bill Michel).

On the women?s side, sophomore Jenny Higgason won the high jump and Crissy Gourdin led a trio of Rams in the long jump, leaping 17-9.5. Senior Christine Ahn won the pole vault after clearing 11-6 and Amanda Huddleston was victorious in the triple jump at 38-0. On the track, Danielle Korb crossed the tape first in the mile at 5:14.71, Rebekah Yetzer won the 800 meters in 2:25.18 and Colleen Blair won the 3000 meters in 10:47.70.

The Rams will compete Saturday at the Air Force Academy in the Air Force Quadrangular beginning at 10:00 a.m.
