Tennis Falls to New Mexico State

Las Cruces, N.M. - The Colorado State women?s team fell to a tough New Mexico State team in Las Cruces, N.M. today, dropping their season record to 3-4.

In singles play the team came away with two victories. Junior Dasha Zhurin defeated Leila Porobic, 6-1, 6-2 and fellow junior Tatayana Ugorich knocked off Sandra Mayr 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. With the victory Ugorich extends her winning streak to five in a row after coming back from shoulder surgery.

The Rams No. 2 player Emily Kirchem, fell to Isabelle Mignot in two sets and No. 3 Carla Pallares was defeated in three sets. Also appearing in singles action for Colorado State was Charity Malone, Jasmin Singh and Alexandra Paganetti.

New Mexico State swept the Rams in all three doubles matches.

Head Coach Jon Messick commented on today?s match against the Aggies.

?We didn?t handle the conditions very well, this was our first match of the season outdoors,? said Messick. ?The conditions gave us problems today against a team that plays very well at home.?

The team returns to action tomorrow when they take on UTEP at 1 p.m. in El Paso, Texas. Complete results will be available at the conclusion of play at csurams.com.
