Women?s Golf Finishes Fifth at BYU Dixie Classic

The Colorado State women?s golf team held on to its fifth place spot today after firing a team score of 303, bringing the three-round total to 929. The Rams fifth place finish marks the fourth top 10 finish of the spring and their eighth this year, two away from tying the school record.
UNLV took the team honors. The Rebels finished with a total score of 876, 27 strokes ahead of second place San Francisco.
The Rams were led by Dawna Virdell who finished tied for 12th; her fourth top 20 finish of the year. Virdell?s 54-hole total was 228. The team?s next best finisher was junior Lynette Duran. She finished the tournament tied for 22nd following today?s round of 79. Trisha Quick tied with Duran after firing a 71 today. This moved her up 15 spots from yesterday.
Kristen Campos also moved up into a tie for 29th. She carded a 77 today, giving her a three-round total of 238. Margaret Garehime, who competed as an individual also tied for 29th following an 81 today.
Rounding out the field for the Rams was Stephanie Linnell who finished tied for 53rd with a total of 253.
Medallist honors in the tournament went to Sunny Oh of UNLV who finished one under par at 215.
The Rams will be in action again on April 22-24 when they begin play in the Mountain West Conference Championships. The Rams finished third in the championships a year ago before moving on to the NCAA regionals.
