Track & Field Signs Five

Track & Field Head Coach Del Hessel announced the signing of Daniel Faessler from Evilard, Switzerland, Adrienne Parry from Fort Collins, Emily Pearson and Ashlee Velez from La Junta and Andres Urbina from Albuquerque.
All five student-athletes will enroll at Colorado State for the fall semester in 2004.
? Daniel Faessler, Evilard, Switzerland
* The European Junior 10,000 meter champion. Also finished second in the 5000 meters (14:52) and third in the 1500 meters. His father used to be a professor at Colorado State.
? Adrienne Parry, Fort Collins, Colorado (Rocky Mountain HS)
* Will run both distance events and cross country for the Rams. Finished 56th at the State Cross Country Championship and is the daughter of school record holder Bob Parry.
? Emily Pearson, La Junta, Colorado (La Junta HS)
* Won the 3A State title in the 400 meters, finished second in the 200 meters, second in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the long jump. Currently ranks fifth in the state in the 400 and eighth in the 200.
? Andres Urbina, Albuquerque, New Mexico (Albuquerque Academy)
* State champion in cross country. Is ranked second in the nation in the steeplechse in Juniors. Competed at the World Junior Olympics for the United States.
? Ashlee Velez, La Junta, Colorado (La Junta HS)
* Placed second at the 3A State Championship in the 800 meters last year after running a 2:20.22. Also finished fifth in the 1600 meters and 13th in the 3200 meters.
The signing period continues until May 1 for both men?s and women?s basketball and until August 1 for all the other sports except football.
