CSU Women Carry Lead Into Final Round

The Colorado State women?s golf team fired an opening-day, five-over par 581 to take a 15-stroke lead after two rounds of the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic on Monday.
Senior Margaret Garehime led the Ram charge with an even-par 144, including a one-under 71 in her second round of the day. Garehime currently sits in a tie for third place, just two strokes off the leaders.
CSU freshman Chelsea Benton carded a 146 on the day while senior Trisha Quick came to the clubhouse with a 147. Seniors Lynette Duran and Kristen Campos rounded out the Ram scoring with a pair of 149s on the day.
Colorado State holds a 15-stroke lead over second-place San Jose State, which turned in a round of 596 and has a 17-stroke advantage over third-place Kansas State.
Individually, Fresno State?s Laura Luethke and San Francisco?s Jessica Potter hold honors with two-under 142s, two strokes better than the rest of the field.
The tournament will wrap up on Tuesday with a shotgun start begining at 8:30 a.m. at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins.
