Rams Tennis Begins Spring Season in Nebraska

Rams travel to Lincoln, Neb to face Creighton and Nebraska
This weekend the Colorado State women?s tennis team travels to Lincoln, Neb. where they will take on Creighton and the ITA?s No. 1 team in the Central Region, Nebraska. Creighton starts the season 26-32 in singles play and 13-15 in doubles play after the fall tournament season. Sophomore Katie Chiu will play in their No. 1 position finishing the fall season 4-4. Nebraska begins the season ranked No. 1 in the central region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Gitte Ostermann is the top-ranked individual in the central region and No. 44 nationally. Ewelina Skaza brings a No. 25 regional ranking while the doubles team of Katie Garcia and Pamela Castillejos and Ostermann and Imke Reimers are ranked No. 8 and No. 11 respectively, in the region.

Looking ahead to the spring season...
Rams? tennis begins its spring season of dual play on Saturday in Lincolon, Neb. where they will compete against Creighton and the University of Nebraska. Nebraska had three players advance to the round of 32 at the ITA regional championship with Gitte Osterman winning the championship. Creighton finished sixth in their conference and return four from last year?s roster. February features a dual with New Mexico State on the 12th and duals with UCCS and CSU Peublo on the 27th. The Aggies return three seniors and a junior after finishing seventh in the Sun Belt Conference tournament last season. This year?s spring break trip will be to Las Vegas, Nev. where the team will face University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Southern Utah, Idaho State, and Bradley. After the trip, the team heads to Utah where they will face Utah State, BYU and the University of Utah. The Rams then travel north to Laramie where they will spend three days facing Mountain West opponents Wyoming, New Mexico, and Air Force. To finish the dual season, they return to Colorado where they will face UTEP, UNLV, San Diego State, and Denver in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado in Greeley. CSU tennis will end its season with the MWC Championships and the NCAA tournaments in May.

Next on the Schedule
Colorado State returns home to host New Mexico State Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Miramont Sports Center in Fort Collins. The dual marks the team?s first home competition of the year.
