Rams Collect 6-1 Win Over Creighton

The Colorado State women?s tennis team claimed a 6-1 victory over Creighton in their first dual competition of the season Saturday in Lincoln, Neb. CSU notched five wins in individual competition and won all three double matches to account for the team?s six points.
Emily Kirchem recorded a win at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-0 while CSU?s No. 3 Carla Pallares won in three sets 6-2, 0-6, 6-4. At No. 4 singles, Jessica Jones won 6-1, 6-2 and Jasmin Singh and Alexandra Paganetti won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
In doubles action, CSU?s tandem of Kirchem and Dasha Zhurin collected a 9-7 win. Singh and Paganetti won 8-6 in doubles play and Pallares and Jones teamed up for a 8-2 win to round out CSU?s scoring.
"We struggled quite a bit in our first match," commented head coach Jon Messick. "However, everyone competed well and finished strong. We need to step it up a notch tomorrow against Nebraska."
CSU (1-0) will remain on the road for a Sunday competition against the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. The match will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
