The Colorado State women's golf team heads to Las Vegas for the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown. This is the final tournament of the fall season for the Rams. The UNLV Rebels will host the 17-team, three-day event at the Anthem Country Club.
2004 Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown
The Colorado State Rams shot a 44-over-par 908 to finish the 2004 Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown in 11th place. UNLV took the team title with an 11-over-par 875 led by Hwanhee Lee who shot a tournament-best 215 to claim individual honors. Margaret Garehime and Trisha Quick were the top finishers for the Rams, tying for 27th place with scores of 226.
The Field
The tournament features some of the most competitive teams from around the country. UNLV wecomes Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, Eastern Washington, Kent State, MIssouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pepperdine, SMU, TCU, UCLA, and UC Irvine.
Rams Finish in 8th at Give `Em Five Intercollegiate
The eighth-place finish for the Rams at the Give `Em Five Intercollegiate was the second-best finish for the Rams during their fall season. The University of Missouri grabbed the top spot as a team and Mikaela Backstedt of New Mexico came in first as an individual. Backstedt earned top honors after beating Jessica Potter of the University of San Francisco in a playoff.
Freshman Kelly Brotherton was the top finisher for the Rams. In only her second collegiate tournament, Brotherton shot a seven-over-par 223 for the tournament and finished in 13th place. Megan Chapman was next in the standings for the Rams, shooting a 76 in the final round to secure a spot in a tie for 19th place. Chelsea Benton's three-round total of 228 earned her a 29th-place finish. Amber Ward and Stefanie Ferguson came in 51st and 70th, respectively, to round out the leaderboard for the Rams.
