COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State sophomore Chelsea Benton has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for November. This marks the first monthly award for Benton and CSU's first award winner since Mayumi Motoyama won the award on March 14, 2001.
Benton, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., tied for third at the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, en route to shooting a 3-under 210 (69-67-74). She set a single-round school record after carding a second-round 67, while her final 210 ranks as the second-best mark in CSU history for a three-round total. All told, she carded personal bests in single-round and three-round totals in the tournament.
For the season, Benton has appeared five tournaments and currently leads CSU and ranks fifth in the MWC with a 74.27 stroke average.
