Ram Women Roll Past Irvine

The Colorado State women's basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season with an 85-65 victory over UC Irvine on Saturday evening at Moby Arena on the second day of the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational. Five players scored in double-figures for the Rams in the victory, including seniors Melissa Dennett and Lindsay Thomas who posted double-doubles for the second straight game.
For the second game in as many days, Dennett led all scorers with 18 points and she also added 11 rebounds which tied Thomas for the lead in the contest. Thomas chipped in with 10 points for her 16th career double-double. Dennett turned the trick for the 11th time in her career.
Juniors Liz Kramer and Marilyn Moulton each scored a career-high 15 points in the game. Kramer shot 4-for-5 from the field and Moulton scored the majority of her points from the free throw line, going 11-for-14 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Sara Hunter added 10 points including 2-for-4 shooting from three point range.
The Rams took a 37-27 advantage into the half but the Anteaters cut the lead to just four points, 39-35 with 17:23 remaining in the game. However, the Rams used a 12-2 run, capped by a Sara Hunter trey to push the lead back to ten, 47-37 with 15:10 remaining.
With nine minutes left in the game and the Rams' lead still at ten, the Rams outscored the Anteaters 26-11 for the biggest lead of the night, 79-54, putting the game out of reach with 3:52 left on the clock.
Next up for Colorado State, the Rams will square off against rival Colorado on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. at Moby Arena. UC Irvine and South Dakota State wrap up the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational Sunday afternoon at Moby Arena. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
