Loss To Lobos Snaps Four-Game Streak

The Colorado State women?s basketball team fell to 13-7 (4-3 MWC) after suffering a 75-49 loss to New Mexico on Saturday afternoon in Albuquerque.
The Rams were led in scoring by junior Melissa Dennett with 14 points, followed by freshman Sara Hunter with 11 points. Sophomore Kylee O'Dwyer came off the bench to lead the Rams with seven rebounds and Dennett had three blocked shots in the loss.
The Rams were tied with the Lobos 11-11 with 12:43 left to play in the first half. New Mexico would go on a 26-5 run, holding the Rams to one field goal in the last 12 minutes of play in the first half. Colorado State shot 20.8 percent in the first half, a season low.
The 26-point defeat snaps a four-game winning streak for the Rams. It also marks the worst loss for the Rams at the Pit in Albuquerque since a 78-49 decision on Feb. 9, 1979.
Dionne Marsh led the Lobos with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Julie Briody scored 13 off the bench and Katie Montgomery chipped in 12. Senior forward Lindsey Arndt led New Mexico with five assists in the game as the Lobos committed just seven turnovers in the contest.
Colorado State will return to action Feb. 10 in Moby Arena to take on Brigham Young. Game time for Thursday night is set at 7 p.m.
